Last day

Got an early 5:30 start after a good night sleep. About 170 miles to go now from Scranton. Should be home by noon. Stayed dry so far in between two storms, but we're gonna get wet soon.

In for the night

Stopped in mid Pennsylvania for the night. Too dark, too tired. Getting an early start - 5 ish - tomorrow to get home by noon. We're both ready to get there after 15 hrs and 650 miles of riding thru 5 states today.

Goodbye OH, hello PA

Cancelled reservations in Youngstown OH to keep driving thru PA. Today we've been in IL, IN, MI, OH, and PA. If we still feel good, we might even see NY and CT.

Michigan

We've landed in Sturgis? We've just come from Sturgis. We've gone round in a circle lads - back on the boat.

Day 3 home

Left IL at 6:15, and made good time thru Chicago. Sitting in Indiana right now, with a push into Ohio next.

Leaving Nebraska

Left the Big Red after a night of torrential downpours and hail last night. Just wet roads this morning, so it should be a good ride through Iowa. More later.

Laurel NE

Back at the Big Red after a great but long day of riding. Definitely worth the added miles to go thru the Badlands and National grasslands. One drawback of riding thru big open plains - lots of cross wind. No rain today, but it took allot of effort to push thru 11 hours in the seat. Had a great dinner with friendly people at the Brown Bear saloon. Looking fwd to Iowa and western IL tomorrow.

O'Neill NE

First big town we've seen all day. Gassed up and ready for the last 90 miles to Laurel. Tornado warning here til midnight, Glad we're leaving.

White River SD

Incredible ride. No civilization for hours. Just hundreds of miles of prairie and canyons. Just made it to this little town for gas. Gonna continue on Rt 44 down towards Ne. 250 miles to Laurel.

Harley

Badlands pitstop

Steve and Harley at the Horseshoe Bar

Lunchtime

Little "Last chance" pitstop in the middle of the Badlands.

Badlands

Very cool ride thru the Badlands. It's like riding thru a mini Grand Canyon.

Leaving Deadwood

Heading home after a great trip. Plenty more riding in front of us.

Still cool, even for the 3rd time.

Deadwood

2000 miles and 4 days later. Good to finally be here. Great ride today. More to come.

50 to go.

100 miles to Deadwood

Sioux Falls SD

Spending the am at J&L Harley for a few service items and a new bag for Steve. Hitting the road by 1, Deadwood by 7.

In Laurel

After a great ride, we hit rain the last 2 hrs in Iowa, but the view of the storm clouds and falling rain over the vast expanse of corn fields and farms was amazing.

Got to Laurel NE and the Big Red Motel after it cleared, and met up with Steve K who rode in from MN. After we started to unpack, Steve P found that he had lost one of his hard saddle bags somewhere since the last gas up 130 miles back. We're gonna loop back a bit and see if we can find it in the am, not so much for the bag, but for the stuff that was in it. We'll also hit a Harley dealer and get the bag replaced. Tomorrow will be a longer day, but hopefully we can get Steve whole again.

Had a great steak dinner, and we'll get an early start in the am.
